TRAIN BANDS AND THEIR OFFICERS 1672-1755 History of Stratford , Connecticut 1639-1969 W.M. Wilcoxson Published 1939, Page 311-313 Officers that were appointed for the companies of train bands in Stratford from the time that the organization was formed, till the year 1775. Train bands served two causes: first they "afforded the needed protection in a military sense" and the general training day brought together not only those who were to train, but old and young aliked as spectators.
