a Pequot name) in the Stonington First Church in 1780. Any
information would be greatly appreciated.

We descend from Abigail and Elias Holmes.
Latter was a weaver in Bergen, N.J.circa 1770. He was a loyalist
who ended
up in Sorel, Qc. in 1784. In spite of thorough research we could
not locate
his birth, marriage or any detail about his family. I recently
became aware
that Ct weavers, contemporaries of his, such as the Hulls and the
Baldwins moved to N.J. When I looked up the I.G.I. records for CT.
I was pleased to note the many references to both Abigail and
Elias in Stonington. I would really appreciate more information re
their marriage and ancestry.

I am researching the Maine family of Stonington
& N. Stonington. In particular I am trying to find the name of
Benajah
Maine Jr.'s wife. Benajah Jr. was born about 1772, the son of
Benajah Maine and his wife Dolly Woodward. He married in
Stonington in the late 1790's before removing to Brookfield,
Madison County New York.
Benajah's first son was named Shepard Wheeler Maine and Shepard's
brother Thomas J. Maine also named a son Shepard Wheeler Maine.
The Wheeler family of Stonington used the unsual name of Shepard
so I believe it is probable that Benajah's wife was a descendant
or relation to the Wheelers who are well covered in The History of
Stonington. Unfortunately no one has made the connection. Can
anyone help?

I am looking for additional information on a Robert Campbell who
was a resident with his family of the Voluntown area around 1723.
The information I have collected to date indicated that he was
b.1673 in Campbeltown Scotland and married a Janet Stewart. After
marriage he moved
to Tyrone County, Ulster, Ireland where his 6 children were born.
He arrived in Boston around 1708, then moved to New London for a
few years before settling in Voluntown. I am trying to confirm who
his parents were, what parish he came from in Ireland/Scottland
and what was his association with Reverend Samuel Dorrance Colony.
The
source of information that I have used to date has been : "Our
Campbell Ancestors, and the Women they married" by Rose Strong
Vincent,
Published by Edward Brothers, Ann Arbor Michigan.
