Looking for information regarding Deborah Crow, born circa 1694,
wife of Samuel Lathrop b. Jan. 6, 1685, d. Nov. 7, 1754 of New
London CT. They married July 24, 1715. Were her parents
Nathaniel Crow and Deborah Leffingwell of Hartford? Have found
information that Nathaniel died 1695, had 3 children, [one of

Crow would have been about 10 years of age. Was she raised by
the Leffingwell family of New London? Any evidence to confirm or
contradict this theory would be greatly appreciated. Thank
you.

According to notes in a family scrapbook, my g,g,g grandfather,
William McGraw, s.of Christopher, was born in Norwich, CT in
1788 and died 12/16/1846, place unknown. On 1/17/1815, he m.
Ruby Bushnell, born 11/27/1792 or 96 in Norwich, CT, perhaps the
daughter of Jonathan and Edna (Brewster) Bushnell. In spite of
rather extensive search of records in the Connecticut State
Library and in Norwich, I have been unable to substantiate any
of the above notes except that I do know that Ruby died in
Montecello, Otsego Co., NY 4/28/1874. Fact is, in all my
research, I never located any McGraw name in early Connecticut.

John PADGETT who settled in Chenango County, NY in the 1780s is
said to have landed first in Connecticut when he arrived from
England c. 1772. The names of several of John Padgett's
children's spouses (Preston, Shapley), as well as of certain
towns in Chenango county (Norwich, Preston) suggest a possible
connection with New London. Does anyone know anything about
either English immigrants arriving at New London in the 1770s or

information on the family of Ebenezer LOOMER who married Edna
EAMES, and on their daughter Lois LOOMER, b. June 7, 1776, and
married Benjamin AVERY in the Congregational Church of Bozrah,
CT. on April 21, 1796. Any and all information on the LOOMER
surname is welcome. Please note that while the LOOMER
descendants lived in the same area as the Loomis descendants,
the LOOMER surname is a different family, and the two surnames
have often been confused or assumed to be the same by
historians, often leading to errors in the records.

I'm trying to find the parents of JOHN F. McCARTY Sr., who was
born 11 Sep 1852/3 in Fitchville, New LondonCo, CT. I'm guessing
his family might appear in the 1860 census, but that volume is
missing from our State Historical Society library. I know that
he married MARGARET T. THOMPSON (b: Mar 1865, WI) and had (7)
children FRANK, WILLIAM, JOHN, DENNIS, MARY, HUGH & JEROME
-- but that was after he moved away from Connecticut (to
IAKSNE), so that won't help much. His sons were mostly
railroadmen, so perhaps that will provide a clue. Ultimately,
I'm angling to find this branches hometown in Ireland. The name
*might* be McCARTHY, but my docs seem to keep a consistent
spelling to the contrary. Any leads gratefully
appreciated.

Wayne Hurd I would appreciate whatever you can find on my
great grandparents, Harry HURD (also spelled HERD, b.circa 1857,
England), m. Anna GILLETTE (b.circa 1855, England). They settled
in Taftville, New London Co., Connecticut. Harry's father's name
may have been either Henry or Harry. The name Harry was passed
down from my great grandfather, to my grandfather, to my uncle
and to another of my grandfather's nephews. Family tradition has
it that Harry and Anna came to CT,USA just before 1898, via a
port in Lancashire, my uncle thinks it was either Blackpool or
Liverpool. They would have had as many as 6 children prior to
1898, probably Grimshaw, Mary, John and Walter. There is no idea
where in Lancashire they resided, family tradition has it that
my cousin, John HURD, while a pilot in WWII, was stationed in
England and went to Lancashire to lookup some HURDs, and found
some. They were family and had wondered whatever happened to
Harry and Anna's family. John died in WWII without passing on
any particulars.
