The entries in this family
bible with a print date of 1813 were obviously
written by several different people.
The first page and first entry of the second page (Mr. Elias Peck….) were written by Richard Ely, born 1777 son of Josiah Ely (1737-1829) and wife Phoebe (1746-1802), in Lyme. CT. The remaining section of that page was written by his son Zebulon Stiles Ely. The page pasted at the back of the
bible was written by Zebulon’s sister

1805 December 16 our son Richard was born of a Tuesday. 1807 Sept 19 our son Elias Peck was born of a Saturday and died Feby 25 1808 age 5 mos. and 6 days. 1808 Dec 31 our son Elias Peck was born of a Saturday 1810 November 16th our daughter Mary Emeline was born of a Friday 1812 Dec 31st our daughter Sarah Amelia was born of a Thursday 1815 May 5th our son David Josiah was born of a Friday 1817 August 10th our daughter Phebe Augusta was born on Tuesday 1819 Nov 8th our son Zebulon Stiles was born on Thursday 1822 Jan 15 our son Enoch Denison was born on Wednesday
Next page Mr Elias Peck my father died October 17th 1812 aged 64 years. Sarah Peck my mother died July the 20th aged 34 years.
My mother Mary Ely Ely died Aug 22nd 1845 at ?M___gan Ilinois, buried in Gr__land Cemetery, Chicago Ill. My mother,s birth I think was in the year 1778. I’ve since learned that it was 1782. My father Richard Ely was born Jan 7th 1777 in N. Lyme ,CT. He died at my residence at 29 Washington Street, Chicago, Ill on July 2nd 1856.
Paper pasted in back of bible- My maternal grandfather died aged 64 years. Sarah Ely Peck my grandmother died July 20 1786 aged 34. My paternal grandfather died ___ 26 aged 86 years.
