"EARLY CONNECTICUT MARRIAGES BOOK IV, STAMFORD — New Canaan The town of New Canaan was incorporated in 1801. Previous to this date what is now New Canaan was part of Norwalk and Stamford, and called Canaan Society,incorporated 1731. The Congregational Church of New Canaan was organized in 1733 from the churches at Norwalk and Stamford. The following are the marriages recorded on the New Canaan church book. 21/
