A highway tax Book of 3 cents on the Dollar on Assessment List of 1855 Payable to the Highway Surveyor on
the first day of May 1856, 3/4 of said tax to be expended in the months of May or June on the Roads & Bridges & the balance in the month of September of said year. Perkins French, That each Highway Surveyor be a collector to collect the tax in his district & lay it out agreeably to the foregoing. That each Surveyor who neglects his Duties shall be fined Seven Dollars. That each Surveyor returning his Book to the Town Clerk on or before the first day of Oct 1856 & make oath to the same.
