JESSE LEE METHODIST CHURCH, 1949

Postcard dated 1948 showing
"Jesse Lee's Methodist Episcopal Church,
Sport Hill, Easton."
The Jesse Lee church was first established in 1787. Jesse Lee was a circuit rider from Virginia who came through Connecticut, traveling and preaching as far north as Maine. He established the first Methodist group at Stratfield in 1787.

The earliest records of the church were lost to fire and what is known of this time comes from the recollection of a lifetime member of the church named Nelson T. Hall. Mr. Hall wrote down all he could recall of the church's early years.

The current church building is located at 25 Flat Rock Road.
